All About CIVAS and the Values Behind Its Foundation

CIVAS is a non-governmental organization committed and concerned with the improvement of animal health, animal welfare, and food safety in Indonesia. CIVAS strives to actualize our collective goals through the veterinary profession, to serve a better life for the Indonesian people in the future. CIVAS works at local, national, and international levels with focus on field studies, information development, training, improving public awareness and local community empowerment.

History Background

The Center for Indonesian Veterinary Analytical Studies (CIVAS) was established on 24 November 2005 by sixteen veterinarians and one animal health activist as an independent, membership-based organization (Decree of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights No. AHU-206.AH.01.06, dated 29 November 2011).

As of early 2016, CIVAS had 46 members who collectively strive to contribute to a better quality of life in Indonesia through the veterinary profession.

Our vision is to achieve public health and welfare through the improvement of animal health, animal welfare and the safety of food from animal origin. Our activities focus on training, field studies, information development, public awareness and community empowerment.

Missions

To develop and conduct studies and research to improve animal health, veterinary public health, animal welfare and the environment.

To provide and present data and information on animal health, veterinary public health, animal welfare and the environment.

To advocate and support the government in developing (public-oriented) policies related to animal health, veterinary public health, animal welfare, and the environment.

To improve community role and capacity in animal health, veterinary public health, animal welfare, and the environment.

To empower communities in exploring and developing local based resources.
